The Reclassification Window is an opportunity for eligible employees represented by SEIU Local 521 and Confidential Clerical Employees to submit a reclassification study request in accordance with section 20.1 – Reclassification of the SEIU Local 521 Contract. Employees represented by SEIU Local 521 – EHU, SSU and Supervisory Units may not submit requests during this Reclassification Window.
The reclassification requests received will be reviewed by Human Resources to determine if a classification study is warranted. Once the request has been reviewed, the employee will be notified of the approval or denial of the request no later than three (3) months following the window. In the case of a denial the reasons for the denial will be provided.
An employee may appeal a denied request to the Director of Personnel in writing within ten (10) working days of receipt of the written denial.
Appeal hearings will be scheduled later in the year where an employee may present his/her case for reclassification to an appeal officer.
Should a study be approved, Human Resources will initiate the classification study as outlined in, Classification Study Process Overview.
