Supporting being human: wellness, work-life balance, telework and more
Wellness
The County of Santa Clara is invested in its employees. To that end, we provide a robust Wellness support team that gives employees a variety of resources and activities promoting wellness in and out of the workplace. Getting fit, eating well, staying healthy, and living mindfully are goals of our "State of Wellness." You'll have access to events, challenges, webinars and so much more through our Employee Wellness Department, as well as resources available to you through your health insurance plan.
Work-life balance
In order to support the Wellness effort, the County of Santa Clara realizes that our employees have lives outside of their jobs, away of the workplace. As public servants, we have "signed up" to be there for our community. But knowing that employees must have balance in their lives to be able to perform their jobs to the best extent possible when they are working is crucial. We recognize the need that employees have for time away from work and we actively encourage employees and managers to find the opportunities for balance by taking advantage of available time off.
Telework
The County has always had a telework option for some jobs. But the pandemic cemented the understanding that for many employees, their work could be accomplished remotely just as well as, or even better than, doing work from a County office or facility. Therefore, the County has endeavored to expand the types of jobs that can qualify for telework, and it is possible that the job you're considering may allow this option for eligible employees. To be clear, not all jobs in the County are eligible for telework for obvious reasons. But know it is something the County is doing to save employees time, save on commute expenses, and do something that may help take some vehicles off the road and positively impact our environment.

Another outstanding wellness resource for employees is our Employee Assistance Program in partnership with Concern Health.
